How we collect, use, and protect your information.
Last updated: 24 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Guide Sight ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Guide Sight mobile application (the "App").
By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
Important: Guide Sight is a general-purpose assistive convenience tool. It is NOT a medical device and is not intended to provide medical advice. Never rely on it for medical, clinical, safety-critical, or emergency decisions. See our Terms of Use for the full disclaimer and limitation of liability.
Placeholders to complete before publishing:[LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [ADDRESS], and if you have EU/UK users, your GDPR representative details (Section 12).
1. Who we are (Data Controller)
The data controller responsible for your personal data is:
Entity: [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (operating the "Guide Sight" app)
Guide Sight helps people with low vision by describing images, reading text aloud, and helping manage day-to-day tasks and medications.
To describe what your camera sees or transcribe your voice, we send that image or audio to trusted AI providers for processing. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.
Most of your personal content (medications, health readings, notes, contacts) is stored locally on your device, not on our servers.
You can ask us to access or delete your data at any time.
Guide Sight is not a medical device — never rely on it for safety-critical or medical decisions.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide
Camera images / video frames — captured when you use Live Assist. Used to generate descriptions.
Voice recordings — captured when you ask a question by voice. Used to transcribe your speech.
Health and medication information — medications, dosages, schedules, expiry dates, and health readings you enter. This may constitute special-category / sensitive data.
Notes and contacts — notes you save and emergency/responder contacts you add.
Account information — if you sign in, your name, email address, and authentication identifier.
Preferences — settings such as theme, contrast, voice, and detail level.
3.2 Information collected automatically
Purchase/subscription data — managed by RevenueCat and the app store. We receive subscription status and transaction identifiers, not your payment card details.
Device and diagnostic data — app version, device model, OS, crash logs used to operate and improve the App.
3.3 Where your content is stored
On your device: medications, health readings, notes, contacts, and preferences are stored locally using the device's local storage.
In transit for processing only: images and audio are transmitted to our backend and onward to AI providers solely to produce a result, then returned to your device.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to:
Provide the App's core features (image description, text reading, voice transcription, medication and task management);
Transcribe your voice and analyse images to answer your questions;
Remember your preferences and content;
Process subscriptions and prevent abuse;
Diagnose problems, maintain security, and improve the App;
Respond to your requests and provide support;
Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your camera images, voice, health data, or notes for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
5. Legal bases for processing (EU/UK GDPR)

9. Your rights
EU/UK GDPR: access; rectification; erasure; restriction; portability; objection; withdrawal of consent; right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
California (CCPA/CPRA): right to know, access, correct, and delete personal information; right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" (we do neither).
Because much of your content is stored only on your device, you can delete most of it directly in the App, or by uninstalling. To exercise rights with respect to data we hold, use our Contact us page (choose Privacy request from the reason list).
10. Data retention
On-device data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the App.
Images and audio sent for processing are not retained by us beyond what is needed to provide the service.
Diagnostic and transaction records are retained only as long as necessary or as required by law.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls on our backend. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, where required, provide additional notice.
